So what have I done in the past two weeks?<br />
<br />
I finished Claire's Cars quilt and it is already on her bed:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020846.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020846.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I also finished a little mini quilt I hung in my bedroom:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020861.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020861.jpg" width="270" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I made a swoon block and now I am unsure of how I am going to proceed. Part of me wants to make it a mini-quilt and hang it on the wall above my bed and part of me wants to make a queen size quilt for my bed. So for now it is just sitting and waiting for me to make a decision.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020867-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020867-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Today I began a mini quilt for:<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://ellisonlane.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Modern Mini Challenge" src="http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l623/ellisonlanequilts/buttons/modernminichallengebutton125.jpg" /></a><a href="http://ellisonlane.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"></a></div>
<br />
I am making a growth chart for Claire's room out of the Cars quilt scraps. It is going to be adorable. <br />
<br />
So far I have made no progress on my Longhorn T-Shirt Quilt. <br />
<br />
I am linking up with:<br />

Kelly from <a href="http://www.kelbysews.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">kellbysews</a> created and easy to follow <a href="http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/2012/02/true-love-love-mini-quilt-pattern-tutorial/" target="_blank">tutorial</a> to make a cute mini quilt just in time for Valentine's day.<br />
<br />
Here is my scrappy version (and I just noticed the O is upside down, oh well!):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020861.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020861.jpg" width="270" /></a></div>
<br />
I am no longer afraid of paper piecing and I love the idea of a mini quilt. I was able to complete and entire project in one evening. Such a satisfying feeling. I decided to hang up my mini quilt above my dresser in my bedroom.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020858.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020858.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020842.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020842.jpg" width="299" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My first finish of the year is a Cars quilt for my daughter, Claire. She loves the movie and I found such great fabrics for the quilt. After all the heartache, watching Claire's eyes light up when it went on her bed made it all worth it. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I decided to bind the quilt in white after debating between the red print, tan print and blue print. I am glad I made the decision to go with white.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020846.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="223" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020846.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And the back, the white tied it all together and I am loving it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020845.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020845.jpg" width="286" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And just one more photo.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020843.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020843.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And now to decide on the next project! Happy Quilting!<br />
<br />

We had great seats and it was a wonderful date night. If you get a chance to see Wicked, go see it. It will completely change your view of The Wizard of Oz. <br />
<br />
The actors were amazing, especia<span style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">lly <span style="background-color: white; color: #343434; line-height: 19px; text-align: left;">Anne Brummel </span>as Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) and <span style="background-color: white; color: #343434; line-height: 19px; text-align: left;">Tiffany Haas as Glinda the Good Witch. </span></span><span style="background-color: white; color: #343434; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px; text-align: left;"> </span><br />

I hated every last second of the first 3rd of the quilt. I ran out of thread and I stepped back and I hated it. I absolutely hated it. So I left it alone to go get some thread and debate on what I should do next.<br />
<br />
So I came home and made the mistake my non-quilting husband (doesn't know terminology) and I asked his opinion. He was seeing all of the mistakes and the unfinished-ness of it. The quilt had a couple of inches of batting and backing off the side, and for some reason the black really stood out on the back. Then he said what I was feeling, "I don't really like the colors." I started crying. I was so frustrated at that point that I let it all go. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020836-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="420" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020836-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I got my pick out and was going to start ripping out the stitches. Jay told me to stop and just finish the quilt. When you are done it may work. He was right. I finished the last two-thirds of the quilt, with a more relaxed, I don't give a shit attitude. It turned out so much better than I thought it was going to.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020835-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="422" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020835-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I don't know if I will attempt meandering again soon, but I am glad listened to my husband. Now I just need to bind it and wrap it up for Claire's birthday.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020837.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020837.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
On the baking front, I did a test run of the Cars cake pan from Williams and Sonoma. I used strawberry cake, which I wasn't a fan of. Maybe lemon cake next time. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020831.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020831.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020825.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020825.jpg" width="290" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Last night I finished piecing the back of Claire's Cars quilt. I decided I wanted to use up as much of the scraps I had as possible. I started by piecing the column of scraps. I chose a width of 6.5 inches, to accommodate as many of my scraps as possible. The height of the rectangles varied for a more scrappy look. After I pieced enough scraps for the length of the quilt I bordered each side with 2.5 inch sashing. <br />
<br />
Then I pieced the stripes. I took my longest scrap (the tan print) and used that piece as a guide for the width. I alternated the pieces with the white sashing. On the right side I pieced the stripes in the same order. I had only a few tan pieces left so I pieced a white block and embroidered a label into it using my machine. I made sure to make the back about 1-2 inches larger on each side to allow for movement while quilting. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020828.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020828.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now on to practice some free motion quilting and then I am going to quilt this baby and put it on the finished list!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

It has been raining and thundering since about 2 am. Claire only woke up once, so at least we got enough sleep last night.<br />
<br />
So I only had one finish this week:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020795_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020795_2.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Progress:<br />
<br />
I completed the top for my t-shirt quilt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020813.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020813.jpg" width="255" /></a></div>
<br />
No Progress:<br />
<br />
Cars Quilt, I need to figure out my backing and go with it.<br />
<br />
On the list:<br />
Swoon A-Long. I would love to share, but need to figure out fabrics.<br />
Jewelry Rolls for my shop. <br />
<br />
And then Sunday we went out and Claire fell down and ended up with a couple of stitches in her head. She is such a tough cookie. She cried during the stitches, but hasn't cried about it since. She takes after her dad. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/53a45b2c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/53a45b2c.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
And the best part about having to wait in an ER is they now have TVs in the rooms. I have to say, we (or me) wouldn't have survived if it wasn't there.<br />
<br />

First of all, I chose Summer Breeze II. When I went to the fabric shop, the Summer Breeze fat quarter bundle was on sale, so it made it easy to choose. I still am in love with Ruby, but I have other ideas for that one now.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ar-ghrejOJk/Tw_DpBRZPuI/AAAAAAAAAbI/KHIbqwN_igU/s1600/SummerBreeze-bundle-450.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ar-ghrejOJk/Tw_DpBRZPuI/AAAAAAAAAbI/KHIbqwN_igU/s320/SummerBreeze-bundle-450.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image of the fabric line</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fnWkBq55VbA/TxWe3-5UePI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/n9ZlEEjsnuo/s1600/P1020764.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="241" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fnWkBq55VbA/TxWe3-5UePI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/n9ZlEEjsnuo/s320/P1020764.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My fat quarter bundle<br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I started with the astrick block:<div>
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tBcY1siaWXw/Txdl2BLCsDI/AAAAAAAAAdI/cxg_joSAzLc/s1600/P1020788.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="254" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tBcY1siaWXw/Txdl2BLCsDI/AAAAAAAAAdI/cxg_joSAzLc/s320/P1020788.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I haven't squared it up yet (need a 12 inch ruler). It is a little off, but I am okay with that. It is after all my first attempt at piecing anything other than squares. Now for my second block, the wonky pound sign.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4sjwdc4vYXY/TxdmKCTldZI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/aKOrGJkG5JI/s1600/P1020789.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="273" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4sjwdc4vYXY/TxdmKCTldZI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/aKOrGJkG5JI/s320/P1020789.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now I am patiently waiting for February to come so I can complete the next two. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Cm5zYhRYzJM/TxeCCm6d2zI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/ks44OofQqS0/s1600/P1020780.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="314" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Cm5zYhRYzJM/TxeCCm6d2zI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/ks44OofQqS0/s320/P1020780.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Cut the block in half:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gj7ZwdZwC0k/TxeCUl4R3UI/AAAAAAAAAeY/1B-TJBcjLUk/s1600/P1020783.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gj7ZwdZwC0k/TxeCUl4R3UI/AAAAAAAAAeY/1B-TJBcjLUk/s320/P1020783.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Now switch the blue blocks with each other and the black blocks with each other:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xTHbozdA2iU/TxeCnFh5_BI/AAAAAAAAAeg/mYKuU9Ww49c/s1600/P1020785.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xTHbozdA2iU/TxeCnFh5_BI/AAAAAAAAAeg/mYKuU9Ww49c/s320/P1020785.JPG" width="309" /></a></div>

It is so much quieter than my old machine which my husband appreciates. If you had asked me what I had done since last Wednesday, I would have said I went fabric shopping with my mom and cut squares for a Cars quilt. Well, I can say that I spent a few hours at my machine and have accomplished quite a bit today.<br />

My husband was trying to swing a hunting trip this last month of deer season so him and a few friends left to South Texas late Friday night. I decided to go to my parent's home three hours away. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GI8oYt-7s9c/TxWdYFaZBSI/AAAAAAAAAbo/p5OKl1rZRrw/s1600/IMG_0919.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GI8oYt-7s9c/TxWdYFaZBSI/AAAAAAAAAbo/p5OKl1rZRrw/s320/IMG_0919.jpg" width="240" /></a>For dinner we went to Carrabba's Italian Grill. We had a great dinner and Claire ate three quarters of her cheese pizza. Claire loves anything vehicles and cars so my dad decided to take us to his fire station to see the fire truck. She was able to sit in the big fire truck.<br />
<br /><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: -webkit-auto;">And then, the siren went off. Grandpa put on his fire suit, and away they went. Sirens and all. Claire thought it was awesome!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The next day my mom took me to <a href="http://grsfabrics.com/" target="_blank">GRS Fabrics</a> in Old Town Spring. We picked up a Summer Breeze II fat quarter bundle and some white yardage for my <a href="http://www.craftsy.com/" target="_blank">Craftsy</a> quilt sewalong (it's free so join in).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fnWkBq55VbA/TxWe3-5UePI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/n9ZlEEjsnuo/s1600/P1020764.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fnWkBq55VbA/TxWe3-5UePI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/n9ZlEEjsnuo/s320/P1020764.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We also picked up a cute floral print to make Claire a dress/skirt/outfit.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cxpZjkmoRio/TxWf0YxoWMI/AAAAAAAAAcY/9zVMGr9hCiQ/s1600/P1020770.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cxpZjkmoRio/TxWf0YxoWMI/AAAAAAAAAcY/9zVMGr9hCiQ/s320/P1020770.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Later in the day we went to Walmart and I picked out my new sewing machine! It isn't out of the box yet, but I love it! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Hg5PSLtVfEQ/TxWgo2yq5yI/AAAAAAAAAcg/vMhnQu_CarM/s1600/P1020771.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Hg5PSLtVfEQ/TxWgo2yq5yI/AAAAAAAAAcg/vMhnQu_CarM/s320/P1020771.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We also picked up some more Car's fabric for Claire's Quilt. The tan and red are fabrics I already have, we added the blue and black one. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WLIjlQq7vpQ/TxWiWcFwdjI/AAAAAAAAAco/XlDDOs_E2io/s1600/P1020762.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WLIjlQq7vpQ/TxWiWcFwdjI/AAAAAAAAAco/XlDDOs_E2io/s320/P1020762.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Thank you mom for a great birthday weekend! Claire and I love to visit with Hapa (Claire's version of Grandpa), Grandma, and Stevie Uncle. Claire even thought it was a good day to put her feet in the pool!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am going to join in and I have already watched the first lesson. <br />
<br />
Every month you will complete 2 blocks a month, for a total of 20 blocks. The last two months are dedicated to finishing out the quilt. I now need to find a great fabric line and get started. The great news is you need a pack of fat quarters and some background fabric. <br />
<br />
Now to go pick out some fabric. <br />

I need to make several quilts as examples for my quilt shop, <a href="http://classicmemoryquilts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Classic Memory Quilts</a>. I have plans to make a 9 or 12 square quilt out of my University of Texas t-shirts. I have found some great backing material:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/fullsize-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="202" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/fullsize-2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
There is fabric with prints from all of your favorite colleges and NFL teams. If you have lots of old t-shirts, making a memory quilt is a great way to have them all displayed and used when you can't wear them any more. If you like me on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Classic-Memory-Quilts/340949259250224?sk=wall" target="_blank">Facebook</a> and order by February 12, 2012 I will give you 15% off your order, just mention you read about the discount on my blog. Fabrics are available for NFL teams as well as other Universities. <br />
<br />
<br />
I am also working on a memory quilt made out of a jelly roll and Claire's baby clothes. I am really looking forward to going though all the baby clothes to pick out the really special ones. <br />
<br />
<br />
I also want to order the<a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/Designer-Mystery-Block-of-the-Month.asp" target="_blank"> Fat Quarter Shop's Designer Mystery Block of the Month</a> The fabric is just beautiful. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I was all set to go visit my parents while my husband went hunting. When that fell through we decided to take Claire to the beach. Yes, in January, we took her to the beach. We had a great time and we will visit again with my parents this weekend.<br />
<br />
Now onto business. <br />
<br />
<b>Completed:</b><br />
<b><br /></b><br />
Claire's Birthday dress in her party theme:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020748.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020748.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>New Projects:</b><br />
<b><br /></b><br />
Car's beding set for Claire's birthday. Claire got way to many toys for Christmas and most of them are in the garage because all she does is throw them around. So for her birthday I am making her a new bedding set for her toddler bed. I am doing a disappearing nine pattern in nine fabrics. So far I have found these fabrics:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/558924-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/558924-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I have 4 more fabrics to pick out. The blue print will also be the flat sheet, fitted sheet, and pillow case. <br />
<br />
<br />
I linked up with WIP at <a href="http://freshlypieced.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Freshly Pieced</a>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<b><br /></b><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3330668946053504881-6454562048111349809?l=cherylscreativecrafts.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Cherylhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11728660855483726939noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3330668946053504881.post-66121383108738504952012-01-10T16:32:00.000-06:002012-02-08T22:42:29.249-06:002012-02-08T22:42:29.249-06:00Birthday Dress!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020744-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="304" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1020744-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
One more thing to knock off of my to-do list, Claire's birthday dress. I used <a href="http://thecottagehome.blogspot.com/2011/01/party-dress-printable-pattern-and.html" target="_blank">The Party Dress</a> from The Cottage Home. If you remember, I used the same pattern to make an Easter Dress and The Princess Pea Costume. This time I only made a few changes. I lengthened the dress by a few inches and made the sash a few inches smaller.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1010946-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" src="http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac249/cgomez113/P1010946-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now onto picking out some fabric for her quilt and bedding.<br />
<br />
LInking up!
<center><a href="http://emsewandsew.blogspot.com/2012/01/stitch-in-time-january-finishes-linky.html"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RpDWuMhrRz4/Twk47YxAVeI/AAAAAAAADjo/67bdk4h4XcY/s200/A+Stitch+In+Time+2012+1.jpg" /></a></center><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3330668946053504881-6612138310873850495?l=cherylscreativecrafts.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Cherylhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11728660855483726939noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3330668946053504881.post-26878863982182353882012-01-09T11:24:00.003-06:002012-01-09T11:24:48.384-06:002012-01-09T11:24:48.384-06:00Trip to the Beach! (in January)What do you do in January in Texas? Go to the beach and build a Texas Snowman! My husband and daughter did such a great job making her.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dzKi0IMp2RQ/TwseHDMiyRI/AAAAAAAAAZw/ji6ucivOJo8/s1600/P1020720.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dzKi0IMp2RQ/TwseHDMiyRI/AAAAAAAAAZw/ji6ucivOJo8/s320/P1020720.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
Claire has been begging to go to the beach for months now. So we packed up the car on Friday and drove to my parents who live an hour away from Galveston Beach. Saturday morning we loaded the dog in the car and drove to the beach. Claire was so excited:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AZzQ--eLbOw/TwsfWhJAHnI/AAAAAAAAAZ4/mLxv5XHTqN8/s1600/P1020692.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AZzQ--eLbOw/TwsfWhJAHnI/AAAAAAAAAZ4/mLxv5XHTqN8/s320/P1020692.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here they are making their snowman.<br />

<br />
They even went swimming. I thought it was too cold and wouldn't go in past my ankles. Claire decided it was so much fun and ended up chest deep.<br />
<br />

<br />
They had such a great time and slept all the way back to Grandma and Grandpa's house.<br />

Jay and I finally sat down with his schedule so we could set a date for the party. With a date set I started to make invitations. <br />
<br />
One of the easiest programs to make posters, cards, and documents with pictures is Powerpoint. It is great to use with existing images and photos. Just drag and drop the photos in and insert a few text boxes and you are set. <br />
<br />
I set the size of the "slide" as a 5 x 7 so it can easily be printed at Walmart, or your favorite online print shop. To make it even cheeper, set the size as a standard 4 x 6. <br />
<br />
My first attempt was met with a "Where's Mater?" from my daughter.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-twX4aZsBHmk/TwIWm3QxZtI/AAAAAAAAAWc/LOQ_CXFx71c/s1600/invite1blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-twX4aZsBHmk/TwIWm3QxZtI/AAAAAAAAAWc/LOQ_CXFx71c/s400/invite1blog.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So I came up with the following option:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DEGRVtprpL0/TwIW0dKuoVI/AAAAAAAAAWo/fOZnJbKaQqY/s1600/invite2blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DEGRVtprpL0/TwIW0dKuoVI/AAAAAAAAAWo/fOZnJbKaQqY/s400/invite2blog.jpg" width="285" /></a></div>
<br />
Which one do you like best? I will have to take another picture of Claire in her birthday dress when it is completed.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/3330668946053504881-4799696354825115758?l=cherylscreativecrafts.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Cherylhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11728660855483726939noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3330668946053504881.post-42398083328081985832012-01-06T09:00:00.001-06:002012-01-06T09:00:06.722-06:002012-01-06T09:00:06.722-06:00Blogger's Choice!If you have been over to <a href="http://quokkaquilts.blogspot.com/2011/12/bloggers-choice-fat-quarter-bundle.html" target="_blank">Quokka Quilts</a> you have seen a giveaway with The Fat Quarter Shop. It is a small crib size/toddler quilt. I took pictures of my process and I wanted to share it with you. This small quilt can be completed with any theme in mind, just by a jelly roll that you love.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ty1XelrvEz8/Tv88B97wZMI/AAAAAAAAAVI/4VGVEffFy5U/s1600/P1020675.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ty1XelrvEz8/Tv88B97wZMI/AAAAAAAAAVI/4VGVEffFy5U/s320/P1020675.JPG" width="315" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I used one Moda Jelly roll in Jovial, 2 yards for the back, and batting. <br />
<br />
<b>Instructions:</b><br />
<br />
1. The first thing I did was group by color ways: red, blue, green, white, and black.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PzXIHGq-U70/Tv8sI6OFKiI/AAAAAAAAAT8/ssgpe1FMNpE/s1600/P1020407.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PzXIHGq-U70/Tv8sI6OFKiI/AAAAAAAAAT8/ssgpe1FMNpE/s320/P1020407.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
2. Next, I took out four strips I wanted to use as binding and set them aside for later. <br />
<br />
3. Now to cut. For each color way, I made six blocks. So I need 24, 8.5 inch strips of each color. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GJJCijlx608/Tv8uAvwcy9I/AAAAAAAAAUI/TBlj0ARFPLc/s1600/P1020409.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GJJCijlx608/Tv8uAvwcy9I/AAAAAAAAAUI/TBlj0ARFPLc/s320/P1020409.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
4. Designing the blocks. I randomly took four strips from each color way and grouped them together. I made sure I didn't have repeats of the fabric in a block.<br />
<br />
5. Sewing, finally!. I took two of the strips and sewed them together. To save thread, I chain stitched the blocks. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-27Ih0oJNw4I/Tv8v-FoBNpI/AAAAAAAAAUU/d-EoVMvVzFE/s1600/P1020410.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-27Ih0oJNw4I/Tv8v-FoBNpI/AAAAAAAAAUU/d-EoVMvVzFE/s320/P1020410.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
6. Press the seams open.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9b3nnu4wFE4/Tv8wq4633eI/AAAAAAAAAUc/B_BSlcTfYlY/s1600/P1020414.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9b3nnu4wFE4/Tv8wq4633eI/AAAAAAAAAUc/B_BSlcTfYlY/s320/P1020414.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
7. Stack up two of your half blocks and sew them together. I chain stitched these as well to save time and thread.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-og_Y9z0RHsA/Tv8xSANAh5I/AAAAAAAAAUk/AeXe720_Nr4/s1600/P1020416.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-og_Y9z0RHsA/Tv8xSANAh5I/AAAAAAAAAUk/AeXe720_Nr4/s320/P1020416.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
8. Press open your blocks and now you should have six blocks in each color way for a total of 30 blocks. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nFjcgrjoxFw/Tv8x8IKAsbI/AAAAAAAAAUs/Ea-xARPP-6k/s1600/P1020419.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nFjcgrjoxFw/Tv8x8IKAsbI/AAAAAAAAAUs/Ea-xARPP-6k/s320/P1020419.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0aYrSq_BzTQ/Tv8yk0Ul_YI/AAAAAAAAAU0/Dvz6gSgwLVk/s1600/P1020420.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0aYrSq_BzTQ/Tv8yk0Ul_YI/AAAAAAAAAU0/Dvz6gSgwLVk/s320/P1020420.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here is where I stopped taking pictures, however I will do my best to explain how I finished up the quilt. <br />
<br />
9. Square up your blocks. Each block should be roughly, 7.5 inches. <br />
<br />
10. Layout your quilt. While laying out the blocks, rotate each block to look like the picture below.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x21gxDxnvyI/Tv8y7bNVwzI/AAAAAAAAAU8/dxXDnpxOCs0/s1600/P1020421.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x21gxDxnvyI/Tv8y7bNVwzI/AAAAAAAAAU8/dxXDnpxOCs0/s320/P1020421.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
11. Piece together the top. I sewed the blocks into rows, then sewed the rows together. <br />
<br />
12. Now for the quilt sandwich. I laid down the backing (face down), then the quilt batting, then the top. <br />
<br />
13. Quilt your top. I hand tied this quilt in the corners, where the blocks meet.<br />
<br />
14. Bind your quilt using your leftover jelly roll strips. I love the <a href="http://distantpickles.blogspot.com/2010/03/trim-it-and-bind-it.html">Distant Pickles</a> binding tutorial and pull it up every time I need to bind a quilt.<br />
<br />
Enjoy your finished quilt!<br />
<br />

<br />
Now that Christmas is finished it is time to start focusing on some new projects. Claire's 3rd Birthday is in two months and we are having a Cars the movie themed birthday party. I can't wait to start on some cute projects for her. <br />
<br />
I am also looking forward to my birthday this year. My mom is letting me pick out a new sewing machine. My $50 black friday model (Brother) from 2010 is a great basic machine. I was able to do so much with it, but I need a more advanced machine with attachments. Things on my list of needs are: (1) a walking foot, (2) a free motion quilting foot, (3) an extended table, (4) some button holes, (5) various decorative and quilting stitches, (6) and a drop in bobbin. <br />
<br />
I would really like an embroidery machine, but we don't have the space or the need for one, yet. It is on my list of future wants. <br />
<br />
