Kindermat Cover

Claire will be starting preschool here in a few weeks and on her supply list was a nap mat and cover, blanket and pillow.  I googled and found some great options on etsy, but of course I wanted to make my own.

The perfect fabric choice was Welcome to Bear Country by Moda. I used 2 yards of the bear country fabric, 1 yard pink microfiber fleece, 1 package of satin binding, and a fat quarter for the strap.  It was super simple and took about 2 hours from start to finish.

Here it is all folded up and ready to go.

Matching Pillow!

I had lots of scraps from the layer cake and leftover yardage from the table runners so I decided to make a pillow for the small couch in the office. I really love the birds in Tend the Earth by Deb Strain so I showcased one of the blue birds.

I did my first dresden plate and I love the results.

And on the couch:

My mom bought some more of the brown so I can complete another pillow.  I am trying to decide what I want to do, but I know she wants to showcase the humming bird on the next pillow.

A Finish!

I was very excited to have a project finished this weekend while I was at my mom and dad's house.  When I arrived, I only had to finish the binding by hand. My mom chose Tend the Earth by Deb Strain for Moda.  I used a layer cake for variety of fabrics and yardage of the brown dragon fly print for the frame and binding.  On the back I used two dragonfly prints and one of the neutral prints.

I love the way they look in the office.  I took some photos before I left.

Birds Pillows: I am going to make 2 throw pillows to match the table toppers.  Here is a sneak peak at pillow over one:

Custom Made Stand Mixer Covers

I finished up my sample of my custom made stand mixer cover which is now available in my etsy shop or by email.  The cover costs $54.99 plus $7 for shipping and handling.

If you would like one made please message me or visit my etsy shop.  If you would like to make your own, you can purchase the pattern in my shop or on Craftsy for an instant download. The chevron standmixer cover pattern can be easily adapted to make a simple cover (just use the lining measurements for the outer fabric as well as the lining).

The fabric I have chosen so far is (but you can always ask for something specific or contact me and I will help you find the perfect fabric)

All Because 2 People Fell in Love

The family tree quilt is complete and I have finally taken pictures of it.  I will be giving it to my husband's grandparents this weekend at their 60th Anniversary party.

There are six children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren and their spouses, and four great-grandchildren.

I free motion quilted with a varigated blue thread around the trunk and leaves.  I also reverse appliqued the heart with their names and the year they were married.

I used dark green leaves as a filler and the light green leaves were hand embroidered with the names of all the children.

The quilt is appropriately titled, "All because two people fell in love"

This is my entry into the quilt category in the Ellison Lane Quilts Summer Sewing Contest.

Little Tote

I was getting ready for my first day of school and decided I needed a little bag to carry my snacks in.  You see, I am starting my Master's and getting my License in Professional Counseling this summer. My first class is a four and a half hour class on Saturday mornings.  I am going to need my snacks.

I love Good Fortune by Kate Spain and I especially adore the purple floral print and the dragonflies. This was a quick bag I fashioned from 3 fat quarters. It made the perfect little bag to carry a water bottle, trail mix, and some grapes.
